As a buyer for storage, organization and all things related, I’m inspired everyday by fashion, color and photography. I may not be in the fashion business, but I allow myself to indulge in the things that bring me thoughts and ideas for a fresh look or something on trend to what I do. Following other bloggers, designers, artists and photographers allow my creativity to go beyond things that might seem unrelated, but really - they aren’t. So, if you see a icy blue dress from Oscar de la Renta’s Fall Collection, a petal pink pump or a metal clasp on a handbag from time to time on my blog, know that I’m inspired to bring something new to Organize.com and hoping that you will be inspired to use your imagination to organize something…beautifully.

Today I found a wonderful artist, by the name of Inslee Haynes. She has extraordinaire talent for sketching and illustration, along with her very own line of note cards and calendars. Haynes lives in NYC where she paints, blogs and samples the city’s vast selection of croissants - one patisserie at a time.

This sketch by Inslee is what she captured from the kate spade fall 2012 preview during NYFW. The title of the event “toutes les filles sont folles” or “all the girls are mad” says it all. It captures French chicness and colorful kate spade playfulness perfectly. Obviously, Inslee and I share the same passion for ks.

Note to self: Call Inslee.

In honor of O’s 3rd annual de-cluttering issue, the editors decided to see for themselves just how Master Organizer Peter Walsh and partner, Ken Greenblatt really live. What did they find? A well organized (as you can only imagine), minimalistic, fun, vibrant and very charming Palm Springs desert stucco with a view of the San Jacinto mountains - where the couple spends their time enjoying life during weekend getaways from busy LA.

The rules Walsh and Greenblatt live by are real-life everyday practices that keep things, well - simple. Stuff like focusing on your fridge, easy use of counter containers, rethinking your linen closet, how to de-junk your junk drawer, establishing a money-free box (aka receipts. gift cards and coupons), standardizing your food storage and making your rooms multi-task are the type of systems Walsh and Greenblatt live by.

It was a blast to work with Peter, the editor’s at O Magazine and to be on location for the photo shoot of this article. On a favorite’s scale, definitely one of those days that I loved the benefits of being Mrs. Organized.

Best advice from this article? “It’s about the ease of living,” says Walsh. “We come here to recharge our batteries, not to clean.”

That’s a good thought to ponder daily and apply to your own home. Stuff stays under control if you have simple rules and you follow them - every day.

TAKING IN THE LA MARKET

PUT SOME ORGANIZING IN YOUR DAY

Getting organized is full-time work, not something we do sometimes. If you make a habit of putting things in their space each day, you’ll be less overwhelmed and pretty organized.

It’s kind of like getting everyone in your household on board with putting something in the dishwasher when they use it. Drives you crazy…right? Hang clothes when you take them off, put those gorgeous shoes in their place, cosmetics look better where they belong rather than on the bathroom counter, and most importantly…put your keys in the same place everyday as you walk in the door. If you don’t have a “place” for your keys, create one today.

Meet my friend, Birdie. These key organizers are something to chirp about and one of my personal faves. I not only love them because they are great looking, but they are also magnetic and can hold a ‘do not forget’ note.

Make “just do it” your mantra. You’ll be happier and much less stressed.
